The Trillion Dollar Campaign

Today’s post features a photo I took at the British Museum. It’s a poster that is printed on actual African currency as part of an advertising campaign called the Trillion Dollar Campaign. This ad campaign was launched in 2009 by a newspaper called The Zimbabwean to call attention to rampant hyperinflation. Understanding the economy has never been my strong suit, but this poster really stopped me in my tracks. The clever ad campaign even won an award at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival.

      Hi FrandalF16,

I enjoyed meeting you through the A to Z challenge, too. I’ve bookmarked your site and will return often. :)

Hmmm… I see that your Z post is about Zocalo. I know what that means in Italian (rat – although it also has slang connotations.) I’ll be curious to see what it means in Espanol!

  4. Seeing an ad printed on money with such a slogan does arrest ones attention. Unfortunately, in this case I suppose it was true advertising.
Ho’omaika’i (Congratulations) on completing the AtoZChallenge; it has been an exhilarating experience. I thought I was prepared, had my theme selected, all post words assigned, over half the articles written. Still felt somewhat overwhelmed!

  7. That is a striking ad. I didn’t quite understand it at first, but in the context it seems like a perfect way to get the message across. Awesome!
