A wild ride
Wow! What a wild ride these past few weeks have been for me! Lots of good things are going on with my writing, but my hubby and I had some behind the scenes drama with his elderly father. He lives alone and some sweet talking scammers decided to talk him out of as much of his hard earned money as they could. Long story short, we beamed him up from Florida to Texas to live with us.
While this was going on, I’ve been staying at a cozy guesthouse in Granbury, Texas – a quaint little town chock full of quirky locals, offbeat history and haunted lore. This Friday I give a presentation about my stay here at the 2016 Writer-in-Residence for the Langdon Review Weekend. Frankly, my current insecurity is that I will muck it up!
The upside is that the presentation is at a nearby winery. Hopefully, my talk will seem more entertaining once audience members have had a glass or two!
I’ve been adopted!
Also, in the middle of this whirlwind, I’ve been adopted by a sweet little kitty who I’ve named Miss Otis. She showed up my first night here and has been keeping me company ever since. I plan to take her home next week when I leave – even though my husband is not thrilled with the idea. Pretty sure my current kitty, Ms. Kalliope K, won’t exactly like the idea, either, but I’ve fallen in love with this sweet little creature. Just like having my father-in-law move into our cluttered little house, I’m sure we will find to make it all work out in the end!
That’s it for me this month! How are things with all of you?
What is IWSG?
IWSG stands for “Insecure Writers Support Group.” It’s a monthly check-in for writers of all stripes. Its creator, Alex J. Cavanaugh, describes ISWG like this:
“Purpose of IWSG: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!” – Alex J. Cavanaugh
Curious about my books & music?

The town sounds like it has everything to inspire a story or two. Good luck with the cats – sibling rivalry can take up a lot of writing time.
Things can calm down now, eh?
We will do what we can to lubercate the gathering
You did a GREAT job, Tiberia! I had a blast, and I think others did, too. You have a very nice venue and it was a fun party. :D ~Tui
I’m sure Miss Otis will fit right in!
Your poor father in law. My mother was hit by scammers…fortunately, my niece happened to stop by the house and took the phone and put a stop to it. Scamming is such a cruel thing to do to trusting people.
