Welcome to Day 3 of the #UnexTex Unexpected Texas Book Release Blog Tour for my quirky travel guide Unexpected Texas which is now for sale as a paperback and ebook on Amazon. Yee haw!

Today, Unexpected Texas is featured at the home of fellow author and travel blogger, Andrew Crusoe. Andrew is the creator of my favorite travel website, Byteful Travel. I originally met Andrew through the travel blog carnivals I used to host here (I really need to dust those off again!), and he is high on the list of internet pals I would love to meet in person.

Andrew has been a big part of my self-publishing journey. I was very inspired when he took the self-publishing plunge, and he has helped me out with nitty-gritty technical issues, too. I admire his can-do attitude and his upbeat style.

Like me, Andrew loves science fiction. He even wrote an epic space adventure of his own, The Truth Beyond the Sky, a sci-fi novel. For more about him, check out the in-depth Author Q&A Nicole Rivera did with Andrew for StoryDam.

My Interview on Byteful Travel in 2012

Speaking of interviews, I was fortunate enough to be interviewed by Andrew for Byteful Travel. This was in 2012, and at the time I was working on a travel memoir based on diaries I kept while living off-the-grid on a tiny island with a population of 7. The interview was a blast! Andrew and I really hit it off and chatted for hours via Skype.

Last year, Andrew caught me off guard by posting A Birthday Surprise for Tui Snider, A Good Friend & Fellow Travel Writer. That was especially nice because I spent my birthday week in bed with a yucky illness, and had a rather challenging spring, overall last year. Who says internet friendships are meaningless?
