Blogging from A to Z

I’m blogging about Texas from A to Z this month, with an emphasis on the quirky side of the Lone Star State. Bloggers all over the world are working their way through the alphabet, too, with topics as diverse as wacky princesses, vegan recipes and Romanian culture. If you’d like to join along, check out the official A to Z blogging challenge for details.

A is for: Alien Grave in Aurora, Texas

Last year, I learned of a strange incident that allegedly occurred in Aurora, Texas. According to a newspaper article published by the Dallas News in April of 1897, a cigar-shaped object crashed in a farmer’s field, an alien body was found in the debris, and this little humanoid was buried in the local cemetery.

There’s even a Texas State Historical Marker at the site describing the strange event!

      Hi Julie,

Yes, I remember that you enjoy cemeteries as much as I do. Maybe when you visit Texas, we can visit some interesting historical graveyards together!

      Hi Corinne,

I was so surprised to find such a cute headstone on the alleged space alien’s grave. Too bad someone swiped it!

  4. What a great way to start the challenge. I’ve just gotten back to Texas after a couple of years overseas and it’s refreshing to read something quirky, cool, and unusual about my home state. ^^ A mutual friend of ours suggested that I participate in the A to Z challenge this year, thanks for giving him the tip.

      Hi Charlie,

I wish our mutual friend would participate, too. I tried! But at least he passed along the idea to you.

Are you feeling much culture shock after being out of state for so long? That can be such a fun feeling.

  6. That is so cool. I really wish when I was in New Mexico last year that I had been close enough to visit Rosewell, but after a 3 day drive, hubby and I weren’t in the mood for another long drive. Maybe one day though.

      Hi Patricia Lynne,

No sooner did we arrive in Roswell this year than we found out a relative had died, so we had to turn right around. I’m all set, though, for our next visit with a list of places to photograph and check out.
