Welcome to the October 5, 2012 Traveler’s Show and Tell blog carnival.

While this edition of the Traveler’s Show & Tell blog carnival includes sightseeing tips, photos and foods of the world, several submissions I received were on the theme of honing your travel mindset and making realistic travel goals so that you can get out the door and make your travel goals happen. For instance:

  • Byteful Travel helps us cut through our mental clutter and clarify our travel goals.
  • Rob explains how he quit his job to travel the world.
  • Jeremy Biberdorf offers money management tips for travelers.
  • Jaques Bouchard shares insider tips for buying the best RV for your travel escape.

Byteful Travel presents How to Get Clear on What You Want, Set Goals that Resonate, & Travel! posted at Byteful Travel, saying,

“Have you ever repeatedly set a goal, such as a travel goal, only to find yourself making slow or nonexistent progress on it, even after months, or worse, years? Well, you’re not definitely not alone. I’ve felt this way, but recently I had a personal breakthrough that gave me a totally new perspective on this problem. (Hint: The “problem” might not be the real problem.)”

eemusings presents In the NZONE: skydiving and surviving in Queenstown posted at Musings of an Abstract Aucklander, saying,

“In which I jump out of a plane and live to tell the tale…”

Pamela presents Something Fishy posted at Escape is Possible, saying,

“Never, and I mean never ever put fish oil capsules in your pocket assuming that you’ll take them later with a meal. Just don’t do it. It’s a trap. A horrifically smelly trap that may infuse your clothing for life. I learned this firsthand recently on a hot and humid day at SeaWorld in San Diego.”

Henry presents Finding Freedom posted at Finding Freedom, saying,

“Need a reminder of summer as we march towards winter? Here you go! In August 2012, I sailed through Panama’s unspoiled, largely undeveloped San Blas Islands. If you could imagine your “perfect island” with its crystal clear water and dark green jungle, and then tried to paint it, you’d paint the San Blas Islands…all 380 of them. This article covers my first day sailing through the area and contains a link to another article of mine offering advice on how to organize your own trip to the San Blas Islands. If you ever make it to Panama, I highly recommend a trip through these islands.”

“We’re finally continuing our series on Singaporean (primarily street) cuisine! Now for another of my favorite dishes: Chilli Crab”

Leyla Giray presents The Train in Spain Stays Mainly on the Plain – Women on the Road Blog posted at Women on the Road Blog, saying,

“My decision to experience the 13-hour train journey from Santiago de Compostela to Barcelona was made by Paul Theroux. Maybe not directly, but The Great Railway Bazaar, The Old Patagonian Express and his other railway epics have always drawn me to lengthy train journeys.”

Rob presents Should you quit your job to travel, take a leave of absence, or a short vacation? posted at Quit your job and travel, saying,

“My own experience having quit my job to travel the world. No Fluff. Just the information you need to successfully get ready to travel abroad.”

Southern beaches allure you to spend your time having fun under the sun. You can also cruise down the river of the region to relax.
