Familiar yet Foreign
Hi all! I’m back from my 5 week honeymoon. I’ve been away so long that my house feels both familiar and foreign. Do you know that feeling?
Blog Carnival Name Change
As you can see, I have changed the name of this blog carnival from Saturday Show & Tell to Traveler’s Show & Tell. From now on, this blog carnival will focus on all aspects of travel, as the name suggests.
Where is MY submission?
Prior to my vacation, submissions to this blog carnival would kinda trickle in. I rarely got more than 5 or 6 in a week, and several of those would inevitably be spam. The floodgates opened while I was gone, however. I came back, checked my email and was like, “Whoa!”
So please be patient while I sort through all the submissions I received over the past few weeks. It takes time to weed out all the spam and poorly written posts. It may take me a week or two to get all caught up. (Of course, if you still think your carnival submission got lost in the ether, send me an email.)
Traveler’s Show & Tell blog carnival
I snapped the photo for this week’s blog carnival in St. Mark’s Square. It was a hot day in Venice and the city swarmed with tourists. Even so, it was still easy to wander off and find deserted alleys to explore – which is exactly what my husband and I did. After sunset, the pulse of the city slowed as the majority of visitors left. That’s my contribution to the carnival this week, read on to see what others have submitted:
Travel Essays
“Years ago, I remembered my sister in law had a super romantic engagement. It was before I was living here, but I specifically recalled it was in Antigua and her fiance reserved a section of a restaurant. Feeling romantic and needing a break from kids (it’s allowed) my husband and I found out where the magical place was.”
“I’m a mid-20’s traveller and recently spent a month living in Medellin, Colombia. I had an amazing experience – from creating Reggaeton songs, to salsa dancing, to even getting mugged at knifepoint – and I’d love to share them with other travellers (especially traveller’s interested in Colombia).”
“The drive from Sirsi to Murudeshwar in Karnataka, India was an amazing one. Check our stop at Devimane in the western ghats.”

From advice, reviews of places to articles like this about how travel is an inspiration in itself – a work of art. Hope you enjoy.”

“I died this morning. And yet… I didn’t. The last thing I remember was looking up in the sky and seeing three missiles coming through the clouds. And then? A blinding FLASH.”
