Join me for an A to Z Road Trip!
I’m taking you on a road trip with me by sharing travel photos for this year’s A to Z Blog Challenge. So come along as we explore some of my favorite offbeat, overlooked and just plain interesting places in Texas… and beyond!
Today is letter F:
Fire Dancers at the Mai Kai in Fort Lauderdale, FL
I love Tiki Bars
Maybe it’s from all those Gilligan’s Island episodes I watched growing up, or because of the Polynesian dance lessons I took as a teen, but whatever the reason, I absolutely love Tiki Bars!
Dinner & a Show at the Mai Kai
Thrilling fire dance
See the Mai Kai fire dancers for yourself:
I highly recommend this entertaining dinner performance. If you are ever traveling through south Florida, make reservations at the Mai Kai Restaurant and Tiki Bar. It’s something you and your family will remember fondly and talk about for years afterwards!
*****I hope you enjoyed today’s post. Come back tomorrow for the next letter in the alphabet!*****
Psst! Instagram, anyone?

I would love to see a show like that. I’ve seen them in TV shows or movies and they look like fun.
It was nearly scary, Patty! But those guys were goooood! :D
Fire Dancers…now that’s fun!! Back in 1990 we visited the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie, Hawaii and watched Fire Dancers there. Wasn’t blogging back then and the photos disappeared somewhere in our move back from Japan in 1991 or our move to Kentucky from Arizona in 1992. Fun memory though. Looking forward to your G post Tui
Bummer about your photos disappearing! I visited the Polynesian Cultural Center years ago, too. Would love to go back someday! :D
I enjoyed seeing fire dancers when I went to a luau in Hawaii. I wish I still had the pictures, but these were lost on a CD I could never find.
How odd, Julia! Another commenter mentioned that their Fire Dancer photos were lost, as well. Perhaps the Hawaiian goddess of Mount Pele has snatched them all up! ;p Thanks for stopping by! :D
