Mental Mosaic – The Band

Back in March of 2013, I started sharing my songs on this blog. Well, OK, so far I’ve only shared this one: “Undertow”, but there are plenty more where that came from!

Why do I call my band Mental Mosaic? Mostly because I didn’t want to get hung up trying to find the perfect name for this project, and since I already own that domain, it made sense. “Keep it simple” and all that, y’know?

And, yeah, my band = me, but don’t tell anyone!

This Song Goes Out to You!

Anyway, here’s the second tune: a little ditty called, “Come to My Senses.” In case you’re wondering, the instruments you hear are guitar and synthesizers (no clarinet or flute this time around.)

I’m dedicating this song to all my creative pals. It’s called “Come to My Senses” and it was inspired by the disorientation that happens when day-to-day reality unexpectedly yanks you out of that wonderful dreamy headspace where all your ideas live. Y’know, the phone rings or someone knocks on your door while you’re in the middle of writing a story, taking photos, writing poetry, et cetera! Can you relate?

As I asked before, if you have any suggestions for a suitable genre for this song let me know. I always find it challenging to pin that down.

Come to My Senses

music and lyrics by Mental Mosaic (Tui Snider)

Coffee cups and instruments are strewn about my place like old friends,
If I come up too soon from this mental space I might get the bends,
Ooh-la-la land beckons, so I’m putting on my fishnets and lace,
But more than anything I just want to see your sweet, shining face, and…

Come to my senses,
Come to my senses,
Come to my senses,
Come on, Come here
Unplug your mind,
See what we can find…

I’m really fond of make believe but I hate having to pretend,
Will someone please tell me when this crazy charade’s going to end?
Ooh-la-la land beckons, so I’m putting on my fishnets and lace,
But more than anything I just want to see your sweet, shining face, and…

Come to my senses,
Come to my senses,
Come to my senses,
Come on, Come here
Unplug your mind,
See what we can find…
