Hemingway Cats in Key West, Florida

The Old Man & the Polydactyl Cat Not only was Ernest Hemingway fond of cats, but his name has become synonymous with a particular feline genetic mutation, one that causes cats to have extra toes. While these polydactyl cats are not an actual breed, they are often referred to as, “Hemingway Cats,” in his honor. It all started down in Key West…[CLICK HERE TO SEE MORE PHOTOS & READ THE ENTIRE ARTICLE]

My Music: What Genre is this Song?

Can you help me out? When people ask what kind of music I record, I flounder. I want to describe it accurately, but I don’t know how! Sure, I grew up playing classical piano. As a clarinetist, I’ve played jazz, too. I’ve been known to dink around on the guitar and flute, but when it comes to writing and recording my own songs… I never know what to call the result! What genre is this song? I realize that musical tastes vary greatly, but if you could please listen to my song “Undertow,” then leave a comment telling me what…

For details on how you can play along, as well as a more serious explanation, check out: the official ROW80 website. My Row80 Goals First off, Happy Valentine’s to all, y’all! OctPoWriMo – 3 Road Trip Haiku

What is OctPoWriMo? My pals, Morgan Dragonwillow & Julie Jordan Scot joined forces to create a month-long poetry mix and mingle called OctPoWriMo. Full details can be found here: OctPoWriMo. You can also follow the #OctPoWriMo hashtag on Twitter. Feel free to join in! I don’t consider myself much of a poet. I’m more of a lyricist. For some reason, it’s easier for me to wax poetic when I’ve got a melody to work with. Even so, I’ve been playing around with haiku this month. Here are three I wrote over the weekend as my husband and I drove to…

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare in Dallas, Texas

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Over the next five years, the complete works of William Shakespeare – including all his plays, sonnets, grocery lists, you name it – will be performed in Dallas, Texas. This ambitious project is the result of a collaboration between Shakespeare Dallas, the AT&T Performing Arts Center and the Mankoff Family Foundation. Performances will take place at Hamon Hall in the Winspear Opera House over a period of five years. Hearing a Play Back in the Bard’s day, plays were not big, splashy productions. People went to hear the story more than anything, so instead of saying,…

Welcome to the October 5, 2012 Traveler’s Show and Tell blog carnival.   While this edition of the Traveler’s Show & Tell blog carnival includes sightseeing tips, photos and foods of the world, several submissions I received were on the theme of honing your travel mindset and making realistic travel goals so that you can get out the door and make your travel goals happen.
