Japanese Gardens of Fort Worth
A few weeks ago, my husband and I popped over to the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens and wandered through our favorite section, the Japanese Gardens. As usual, I went snap-happy, taking lots of photos. The ones I’m sharing here show bright koi fish swimming beneath the swirling reflections of the trees. I found it really hypnotic!

I’ve gone from turning up my nose at the idea of cell phone pictures, to being an avid iPhone photographer, which is why my theme for the 2014 A to Z blog challenge is Instagram Travel Photos. My A to Z Inspired Book: Unexpected Texas
I’d like to thank everyone who commented on my blog during the A to Z Challenge last year, because it convinced me to take the self-publishing plunge. On March 2, 2014, I released Unexpected Texas as a paperback and eBook and it quickly became an Amazon Best Seller!
Wow, what an unbelievable picture, I like this.
Great shots! I especially like the on of the koi and the wood duck. :) It’s amazing how relaxing it can be to watch fish swim.
Thanks, Chuck! The reflections were so hypnotic that day. I couldn’t stop snapping photos. I felt visually gluttonous! :D
Great shots. The water makes a beautiful impressionistic shot.
Nice to meet you Tui through the A to Z Challenge and congrats on the book.
I love how in some of the pics you shared the koi really seemed to glow. Like they were magic. =D
Those photos are lovely and hypnotic!
Thanks for visiting my blog the other day!

The 2014 Blogging from A-Z Challenge
I love the Japanese Gardens! I haven’t been in a while, but your pictures make me want to go back. That last one with the duck looks a little ominous, like it’s about to be attacked (although I know that’s not the case). Great pictures!
Great photos …a real kaleidoscope!
I love koi! They’re such beautiful fish.
Those are amazing pictures!
That first image is amazing!
Such marvelous images. I really like the first one, the way you’ve caught the tree’s reflection in the rippling water. Happy A to Z!
Hi Lillian! Thank you. The tree in that first photo kind of reminds me of cloisonne jewelry, somehow. :D
The mixture of cultures in the less obvious places–a joy and a surprise.
Thank you,
Susan

Hi Susan, That is something that pleasantly surprised me about Texas, there is a real appreciation of different cultures here. There are lots of great ethnic food restaurants, too! :D
Tui, After living in Japan, I have a newfound love for koi!
Hi Corinne, How cool that you lived in Japan! I have yet to even visit there. As for koi, well, I’ve always loved them. I’m lucky to have lived near various Japanese style gardens over the years. :D
Gorgeous photos! Like paintings.
Hi Anabel! Thank you. I enjoyed how painterly those photos came out, too. :D
