I’m not much of a sports fan, but I did grow up in Washington State, so I can’t help but feel excited that the Seattle Seahawks made it to the Superbowl this year. That’s why, for this week’s world travel post, I’m posting a photo of the Space Needle along with ten unusual facts about the Emerald City’s famous icon. I hope you enjoy it: Ten Quirky Facts about the Space Needle The Space Needle was originally called the Space Cage During the 1962 World’s Fair in Seattle, the Space Needle was topped with a 40-foot high flame which burned…

Mary Martin: The Original Peter Pan from Weatherford, Texas

Talented Texan Makes it Big on Broadway Mary Martin, the performer most strongly identified with role of Peter Pan, was born in Weatherford, Texas. This talented singer and actress was also the first to play Maria von Trapp in The Sound of Music, as well as Nellie Forbush in South Pacific. Photo Bombed by a Nude Dude

For today’s Friday Photo, I’ve decided to post the most popular photo from my 2013 Instagr.am feed. (If you’re on Instagr.am follow me, @TuiSnider, and say hi. I will definitely follow you back!) A few months ago, I was at the grocery store when I spotted a Wolverine/Hugh Jackman look alike comparison shopping as you can see from the photo above. Queen for a day? Earlier in the year, I spotted a Queen Mother look alike dining alone. As with the other faux famous folks, I did not want to be intrusive, so I carefully snuck the photo you see here. Michael Moore As for the Michael Moore look alike above, I spotted him at an all-you-can-eat…

Reverb13: iPhone Photos as Soul Food

Reverb13: What nourishes your soul? The following Reverb13 prompt comes from Kylie Bellard: The way we nourish ourselves determines our ability to shine our light in the world. And nourishment doesn’t just come in the form of food and drink and sunshine; it’s equally important to nourish your spirit. What made your soul feel most nourished this year? Artsy & Abstract Photography nourished my soul this year, especially the artsy and often abstract photos I take while working at my husband’s boat repair shop as an office manager. It can be a stressful place, and when I started I knew…
