OctPoWriMo Day 2 prompt: Where does poetry hide?
Where Does Poetry Hide?
Poetry gathers dust in the corner
It peers up through stains on the floor
Thriving in haphazard textures
It’s all this and so much more
Poetry lives in all we rush past
Undervalued, overlooked, swept aside
I found one once tucked in a napkin
Shivering and trembling inside
It’s what our mind crops out of the picture
It’s at the heart of many mistakes
All it wants is to be acknowledged
If ignored it will make your heart ache

31 Days: Today’s photos
Today’s photos are ones I snapped while working at my husband’s boat repair shop. It’s a busy place, and often when I hand him the phone, I’m distracted by the accidental beauty surrounding me. When this happens, I take a moment to zero in on what I’ve found and take a picture of it (if possible) with my iPhone.
About OctPoWriMo, Blogtoberfest & 31 Days
I’m posting each day in October as part of the following blogging challenges:
OctPoWriMo, which encourages folks to write 31 poems in 31 days, as well as read and comment on other participants poems. You can write poems in any style and any subject, plus there are daily prompts to nudge you along, too.
Blogtoberfest simply challenges folks to blog each day this month, and to visit and comment on other participant’s blogs.
Like the aforementioned blogging challenges, 31 Days challenges folks to blog each day this month, and to visit and comment on other participant’s blogs. The main difference with this challenge is that each blogger is allowed to choose a theme for their month. I have chosen 31 Days of Poems & Soulful Photos, by which I mean that each day I will share not only poetry, but also photos I have taken with my iPhone that strike a chord with me.
