by 2 Comments

Get FREE Books as Halloween Treats!

Six years ago, my pal and fellow author, Patricia Lynne aka Patricia Josephine had a brilliant idea. She calls it Trick-or-Treat reads, and this is how it works:

For those of you who don’t know, Trick-or-Treat Reads is a Halloween event where authors put their books for free and readers go trick-or-treating to get the books. BOOKS ARE THE CANDY!

Grab my Halloween Freebie, then trick-or-treat for more:

So, for the 2019 Trick-or-Treat Reads, I’m offering a free music album & lyrics book.

Yes, in addition to writing books, I’m also a singer/songwriter who plays several instruments. A while back, I recorded a 10-song album featuring my own original songs and lyrics.

Come to My Senses:
To claim your FREE copy of my indie music album Come to My Senses, leave a comment on this post requesting a copy from now through November 1st. I will send you a unique download code for the album to your email address as well as a pdf with all the lyrics to the songs on it:

What’s the music like? You can hear sample tracks by clicking here and I’ve pasted some reviews from Amazon and CD Baby for you to check out below:

“I loved this album! The music is interesting and unique. It’s so nice to hear a fresh take on music these days. Her voice, and musical tones will have you feeling like you are in a magical place.”

“Unique and Inspiring: I love the way Tui’s music makes you feel. It is dreamy and yet excites the mind.” “Mystical and Magical!: Damn, I love this music. It really needs to be showcased in a movie soundtrack. Beautiful. Thank you Tui!”

“A Magical Adventure!: Listening to this album is like being swept away into a magical land. It’s soft and billowy and inspired. You won’t be disappointed buy today!”

“Mystical Awesomeness: A beautiful album meant for a movie soundtrack and music that was made from the soul. I love it.”

by Leave a Comment

Book Lovers Blog Hop = Free eBooks & Swag

It doesn’t matter whether you’re on Santa’s naughty or nice list, all you have to do this week for free eBooks & nifty book-related swag is hop through the links on this page:

The Holiday Gift Exchange – Book Lovers Blog Hop

But don’t hop away, yet. *This* post is one of the blog hop stops!

My Gifts to You

Since this holiday blog hop caters to book lovers, I created a freebie highlighting my favorite independent bookstore: Booked Up in Archer City, Texas.

Booked Up is a labor of love created by the award-winning Texas author, Larry McMurtry. My freebie features an excerpt about the famous bookstore from my best-selling travel guide, Unexpected Texas. However, since my book does *not* contain any photos, I’ve added a whole bunch of pictures snapped during my writing research trip to Archer City, Texas.

How to Claim Your Gift

Simply leave a comment on this post sharing a holiday travel memory and I’ll email you a copy of my free ebook, Unexpected Texas: Larry McMurtry’s Booked Up (with photos!) [UPDATE: My blog is not accepting comments for some unknown reason right now, so until I get this fixed, if you’d like the freebie, simply email me & I’ll send it your way. Thanks!]

I hope you enjoy learning about Booked Up. If you’re ever in north Texas a trip to Archer City to see this one-of-a-kind independent bookstore is definitely worth the effort!

Just so you know, my freebie will run from today all the way through New Year’s Day.

$100 Amazon Gift Card Giveaway

Also, to have a chance of winning a $100 Amazon Gift Card, enter the Rafflecopter drawing at the bottom of this blog post.

My Other Holiday gift

I’m also offering my latest book project, The Lynching of the Santa Claus Bank Robber, for only 99 cents through New Year’s Day. Please note that this is a pre-order for the Kindle version. The eBook will be officially released on March 1, 2015. (Exciting news! As of this writing, it is currently #9 on the Amazon Best Sellers List for West South Central Travel!)

After New Year’s Day, however, the price will continue to climb as launch day approaches!

Here’s a brief description:

“In December 1927, Santa Claus came to town – and proceeded to rob a bank! Tui Snider’s latest book, “The Lynching of the Santa Claus Bank Robber” follows this true crime story from one strange-but-true event to the next.

From genteel women vomiting from sheer disgust, phony paralysis, a mysterious blonde, and a doctor declaring that one bandit’s breath smelled “too good” for him to qualify as insane – a crazy chain of events leads up to the mob hanging of a very bad Santa in small Texas town.”

Hey Authors: Sign Up for a Halloween Blog Hop to Gain New Readers

Trick-or-Treating for Books!

Have you ever wanted to go trick-or-treating for books instead of candy?

Well, now you can!

A couple weeks ago my friend, Patricia Lynne had a brainstorm and devised a clever way for authors to give out books and book-related goodies on Halloween.

Last I checked, 20 authors had signed up for her Trick-or-Treat Book Blog Hop, and I bet more will be added as the big day approaches.

That’s a whole lot of sugar-free fun!

(Oh, and as you may have guessed, it was Patty’s blog hop that inspired my own Paranormal Texas Book Release Trick-or-Treat Giveaway. Speaking of, you can *still* enter daily to win goodies there through Halloween. What can I say? I love giving out prizes!)

How Authors Can Play Along:

If you are an author and would like to give a book or book-related goodie away for Halloween,

1. Add your name to the list of participating authors over at Patricia Lynne’s blog. Here’s the link: Trick-or-Treat Book Blog Hop

2. Write a post on Halloween (or a day or two before, depending on your schedule) telling trick-or-treaters about your book.

3. Offer your blog visitors a treat! This treat can be as simple as giving each person who comments “trick-or-treat” a free ebook. You could also run a contest, with each “trick-or-treat” being an entry. Or… you could do something else entirely! Halloween is like that, right? It’s not like every house on the street gives out the same candy.  So it’s up to you, fellow authors. This is a chance to gain new readers. Make it fun!

How Readers Can Play Along:

On Halloween, drop by Patricia Lynne’s Blog and start trick-or-treating your way through the tasty author blogs taking part in this trick-or-treat blog hop.

And, hey readers, please give a little candy back to the authors by posting reviews of their books on Amazon and Goodreads and so forth once you’ve read and enjoyed their books.

Check out the Author Participants in Advance!

Why wait for Halloween? Check out all these generous candy-laden authors in advance:

30 Day Book Marketing Challenge: It’s Just Beginning!

It's been an info-binge! (photo by Tui Snider)
It’s been an info-binge! (photo by Tui Snider)

Now is when the fun begins!

This post is supposed to concisely present a few tidbits I learned from the 30 Day Book Marketing Challenge. Frankly, I am too overwhelmed to to do so!

Am I the only one who feels like they just gorged themselves at an info-buffet? Phew! I tell ya, the last few weeks were like Thanksgiving for the brain. I need to plop on the couch for a bit and digest all the things we’ve learned.

I’m not complaining, though, because now is when the fun really begins! Now is when we get to implement all the helpful action steps we were given these past few weeks. Because even though the 30 Day Book Marketing Challenge is ending, it is really just the beginning for all who participated.

I’m excited! Are you?

How D’vorah Lansky Spoiled Me

My hat’s off to D’vorah Lansky. She did a great job putting 30 Day Book Marketing Challenge together. Take a bow, D’vorah – you’ve earned it!

I especially appreciate how D’vorah chose presenters who offered actionable tools. It gave us all a chance to sample their offerings and pursue the teachers who are the best fit for our particular learning style.

As an indie author, I have a small window in my daily schedule for marketing and promotion. D’vorah’s 30 Day Marketing Challenge saved me hours and hours of time by serving up great content with actionable steps each day. This wasn’t merely a “sit back and listen” experience, it was a “jump in and do” experience.

It’s made me a bit spoiled!

Join me on Twitter

I often process new info by explaining it to others, so I am eager to share what I learned during the 30 Day Book Marketing Challenge with all my writing pals. I lead a weekly Twitter chat each Thursday night at 8pm EDT, so I look forward to sharing what I’ve learned there, too, especially with the many indie authors who join us each week.

If you are on Twitter, tweet me a howdy @TuiSnider. I will follow you back, unless of course, you’re a scammy spam bot! ;p

To learn more about #StoryDam chat, check out this link: #StoryDam chat for writers on Twitter. In a nutshell, it’s a chat for writers of all stripes and at all stages in their career.

Would you like to be a chat guest?

While I’m at it, if you would like to be a guest at an upcoming #StoryDam chat let me know in the comments below. Chat attendees have been asking for more marketing tips lately.

Time to roll up your sleeves: What will you do first?

Are you excited to dive into all the new things you’ve learned during the 30 Day Book Challenge? What will you do first? Do you have a pile of messy notes both online and on paper? (I know I do!) How are you digesting all this helpful information? I look forward to hearing from you!

Memoir Mondays & a Blog Hop for Non-Fiction

This Week’s #BiteSizeMemoir Prompt: Camping

THE PLAN:
I intended to spend the week reading books, swimming, stargazing, and sailing our little 12 foot boat. My sister had a tan to perfect, and fish to catch. My parents, I’m sure, simply wanted to relax.

THE DISASTER:
The August sun held out until we reached the lakeside campground. First came the splats of big fat drops. This crescendoed to a steady downpour as we frantically pitched our tent.

THE REALITY:
No swimming, fishing, sailing, or tanning. Instead, we told stories and read books. We played card games and Scrabble. Mom won the card games, and Dad won Scrabble every single time. Upon our return, I raced to the dictionary, convinced Dad invented several words. I still flashback to this scenario every time I see the word “fez” (with which he earned a well-deserved triple word score!)

THE MEMORY:
One of the best camping trips, ever!

What is Bite Size Memoir?

Bite Size Memoir is a new writing project created by Lisa Reiter. Here’s how she describes it:

Bite size memoir is designed to help anyone record some personal memoir in small manageable bites. There’s a prompt every week and some constraints to keep it small… Feel free to dip in and out each week without commitment.

Participants are given a prompt each week, then asked to respond with either a 150 word prose/poem, or 10 statements starting with “I remember” that are triggered by the prompt. I chose the prose route this week.

This is my second time using Lisa’s memoir prompt. I had so much fun with her “Fairies and Magic” memoir prompt that I’ve decided to make this a Monday thing!

Play along with us – it’s fun!

If you would like to play along, check out Lisa’s blog Introducing the Bite Size Memoir Challenge. She posts a new memoir prompt every Friday.

Also, if you’re on Twitter, you can find other people’s posts for this week via the hashtag #bitesizememoir, and be sure to follow @Lisa_Reiter, too.

Do you write Non-fiction, Travel and/or Memoir?

Do you write non-fiction, travel, and/or memoir? I ask because most writing resources I bump into both online and off are geared towards fiction.

That’s great, but hey – non-fiction writers need support, too!

A New Weekly Blog Hop for Non-Fiction Writers

Lately I’ve been toying with the idea of leading a chat on Twitter for people who write non-fiction in all its forms. At the moment, I lead a weekly chat for ALL writers.

It’s called #StoryDam chat and we meet each Thursday at 8:00 p.m. EDT to talk about all aspects of the writing process. You’re welcome to join us! Check out the Story Dam writing community website for more information.

At one point, I even declared that I would start a weekly writing chat in the hour before #StoryDam specifically for non-fiction writers. Then I chickened out because I’ve already got so much going. What do you think? Would YOU attend a writing chat on Twitter that was geared specifically to non-fiction writers?

Add Your Post to the #NFTM Weekly Blog Hop

In the meantime, here’s my compromise: my Monday posts now include a blog hop for non-fiction writers. I’ll be using the hashtag #nftm to promote it, and I hope you will, too. I’m excited to connect with more non-fiction writers – like you!

If you write non-fiction of any sort, including travel and memoir, I invite you to add your link to the blog hop below:
