Here in Texas we have everything from an official state cooking vessel (Dutch oven) to an official state dinosaur (Pauluxysauras Jonesi.) We don’t yet have an official state vehicle, but if we did, it would surely be the pick-up truck.
One in four Texans owns a pick-up truck, and they are often customized. Pick-ups aren’t just for macho men, either. In my neighborhood, I sometimes see a bright pink one with “Daddy’s Girl” emblazoned across the back window. My favorite local customized truck, however, sports a purple and green Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle theme. (Every time I see it drive by, I want to roll down my window and shout “Turtle power!” but it never works out.)
While I’ve seen a lot of pick-up trucks since moving to Texas, the one in the photo at the top of this post takes the cake. I spotted it (how could I miss it, right?) at a hardware store with my husband.
Not only did I want to stick around and see what the owner looked like (did he or she have a matching outfit?) but I wanted to see how they climbed into the driver’s seat (did they need a step-ladder?) Sadly, we had errands to run, so I was unable to satisfy my curiosity.
Hey, at least I got a photo!
