People Watching in New Orleans
Re-visiting my travel photos to choose ones for this post made me realize how rarely I focus on strangers when taking pictures. I do this partly out of respect for other people’s privacy, and partly because they aren’t that interesting or unique to the place I’m documenting.
New Orleans, however, is different! I’m comfortable taking photos of people in NOLA in the same way I’m comfortable taking photos of guests at a lively party. It feels natural and not invasive.
Perhaps this is because I never feel like a stranger in New Orleans, but more like a party guest who has yet to meet everyone. It’s a bit like Twitter, actually, the way random folks will suddenly “friend” you as you walk down through the French Quarter, join in your conversation at a restaurant, and give you tips on what to do next.
The bottom line is: If you enjoy people-watching, New Orleans is the place for you!

My A to Z Inspired Book: Unexpected Texas
I’d like to thank everyone who commented on my blog during the A to Z Challenge last year, because it convinced me to take the self-publishing plunge. On March 2, 2014, I released Unexpected Texas as a paperback and eBook and it quickly became an Amazon Best Seller!
