K is for Killjoys – How to Protect Your Creativity #AtoZChallenge

I love encouraging others! Since I love encouraging others so much, I’m sharing Creative Encouragement Memes for this year’s A to Z Blog Challenge. The quotes are from all over, but I took each photo with my iPhone. Here’s today’s featured letter: Protect Yourself from Creative Killjoys Some people get so frustrated with their own creativity that seeing you enjoy your creative projects pisses them off. I call these people Creative Killjoys. The world is full of them, alas, and they come in several flavors. One type of Creative Killjoy will regale you with facts and figures about how few artists “make…

F is for Friends Feed Creativity: Online & Off

I love encouraging others! Since I love encouraging other creatives so much, I’m sharing Homemade Creativity Memes for this year’s A to Z Blog Challenge. By “homemade” I mean that the quotes are from all over, but I took each photo with my iPhone. Here’s the one I made for today: F is for Friends Feed Creativity Online & Off! I can be quite the hermit, it’s true! My creative process for writing, music and even photography often finds me wandering off by myself for hours, even days, at a time. And while I enjoy this time alone, when I finally…

He wrote an excellent guest post (All About Jackalopes), and I interviewed him when his first book, Unique Town Names, was released. David’s also featured on…

Author Interview: 4 Questions for Julie Reeser

Need creative inspiration? Check out Julie Reeser! I’m not sure exactly when I met Julie Reeser, although I know it was through the writing tag #StoryDam on Twitter a few years ago. Of course, as a hat aficionado, I instantly noticed the spiffy topper she wears in her profile pic. Julie lives in Montana and I’m in Texas. As I’ve gotten to know her from afar, I’ve come to admire her creativity, poetic sense, and her outlook on life. I love supporting her on Patreon because the monthly postcards and tiny books she sends out are such a treat. (She…

Secret Santas for Writers on Twitter!

What is a Secret Santa? Have you ever heard of a Secret Santa gift exchange? For me, it’s a family tradition. Each year after Thanksgiving dinner, my family members write our names on a slip of paper and toss it into a hat. Each of us then takes one slip of paper out of the hat and silently reads the name written there. We then become a Secret Santa for the person whose name we have drawn. You’re not supposed to tell anyone who you are a Secret Santa for until Christmas day. That’s when we have the big reveal! What…
